The Metric Century
To most of the world, it’s 100 kilometers, but we’re in America. This is horse country. Horses don’t know how to measure in kilometers, so neither do we. Get a taste of the challenging climb (about 4,000 feet), the wading, the scrambling, the grit, and some of the spiciest gravel in the Southeast. Since it’s only half the size of the 103-mile route, you’ll have left yourself something to work up to for next year. We salute you and your innate sense of moderation. Siddhartha would be proud. Plus, your shoes’ll last longer.
Expect the same timing, SAG support and life-affirming route as the 103-mile, just sliced in half. Metrically.

Field Limit, Categories, Prizes & Big Picture Rules
Prize Money — 100 Mile Only
We’re throwing down $5,000 in cash — $2,500 for the men’s field and $2,500 for the women’s. All eligible 100-mile riders compete for the overall payout, including Masters and Singlespeed. Non-Binary riders compete within the men’s payout.
Full payout, eligibility and competition rules are on our Rules, Regulations & Ride Etiquette page.
Awards
But…the real prize: Ceramic Glory.
First place in every eligible 100- and 62-mile category takes home a hand-thrown ceramic trophy from Grouchy Ass Pottery Studio. Second and third get custom medals to ease the sting.
The 10- and 22-mile rides are non-competitive — no podiums, but we still love you.
Podiums
The 100-mile overall cash podium will take place approximately 30 minutes after the top 10 men and top five women finish. Cash winners must be present. No exceptions.
All other 100- and 62-mile category podiums will take place approximately 30 minutes after the fifth rider in that category finishes, as best as we can manage.
E-Bikes — The Very Short Version
Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes are welcome in the 10- and 22-mile rides, allowed in the 62 as ride-only participants with no prizes or podiums, and are not permitted in the 100. Throttle-equipped bikes are not allowed at any distance.
There’s more to it than that, including our E-Bike SAG policy, so please read the full Rules, Regulations & Ride Etiquette before registering.
